Daniel Phillips was born in 1979 in Florham Park, New Jersey. He received his BA from Williams College in 2001 and his MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in 2013. His work has been exhibited at The Contemporary Austin, Austin, TX; Currier Museum of Art, Manchester, NH; Chrysler Museum of Art, Norfolk, VA; Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art, Peekskill, NY; Montserrat College of Art, Beverly, MA; deCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Lincoln, MA; Grossman Gallery, School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, MA; 808 Gallery, Boston University, Boston, MA; and Tufts University Gallery, Somerville, MA. He received an honorable mention for the Dana Pond Award in Painting from SMFA and he was the runner up for the CyberArts IBM Innovation Award. His exhibition at judi rotenberg gallery in Boston was selected as Best of 2009 by The Boston Globe. Phillips’ work has been reviewed in The Boston Globe, Artinfo, This Week in New York, and The New York Times, among others. In 2011, he completed a major large-scale commission for the Virginia Beach Convention Center. He is currently an artist in residence at the Bat Cave, Brooklyn, New York. Phillips lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.
